Dr. Eric Burgon, D.D.S., M.D.
Dr. Burgon is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon providing comprehensive surgical care to patients throughout Western North Carolina.
Originally from Santa Cruz, California, Dr. Burgon earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California, San Francisco. He then completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he also earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and completed a general surgery internship.
During his final year of residency, Dr. Burgon served as chief resident and received extensive training across the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, tooth extractions and complex corrective jaw surgery.
Dr. Burgon is committed to providing high-quality surgical care while making sure each patient feels informed, comfortable and confident throughout their treatment. He maintains staff privileges at Mission Hospital, allowing him to provide care for both routine and complex surgical procedures in a safe, controlled environment.

Dr. Waheed V. Mohamed, D.D.S., M.D.
Dr. Mohamed completed a fellowship in cosmetic surgery in Abilene, Texas and also trained in oral and maxillofacial surgery in New Orleans, LA.
He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin, earned his doctorate of dental surgery degree at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, and completed an internship in maxillofacial trauma in New Orleans. His work in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina earned him a national community service award.
Dr. Mohamed stayed in New Orleans to complete medical school, a general surgery internship, and his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Louisiana State University. His training there involved trauma, pathology, and cosmetic surgery of the face. After spending 10 years understanding the human face, he joined Dr. Howard Tobin for a fellowship in cosmetic surgery.

Dr. Richard A. Kapitan, D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Kapitan is a Board-Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon specializing in cleft lip/palate surgery, orthognathic (jaw realignment) surgery, facial trauma repair, bone grafting, and dental implant reconstruction. Dr. Kapitan holds both a doctorate in surgery and master’s of science degrees, as well as advanced training as a specialist in surgery and anesthesia (OMS) from The Ohio State University Medical Center.
Dr. Kapitan is a Diplomate of the American Board of OMS, a Fellow of the American Association of OMS, and is a member of both the North Carolina Society of OMS and the Southeastern Society of OMS. He holds appointments as Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at both Louisiana State University (LSU) and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (UNC). Internationally, Dr. Kapitan is a volunteer cleft surgeon, surgical team leader, and sits on the Board of Directors of the Free To Smile Foundation; a not-for-profit medical mission group that provides free cleft lip and palate surgeries to children in need around the globe.
On a personal level, Dr. Kapitan enjoys camping, hunting and fishing with his family. He lives on a family farm that he operates with the help of his family in Weddington NC, and is an active member at Nativity Orthodox Christian Church in Charlotte, NC.
